Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-07-27
The service
GiftScout is a free, hosted tool that reminds you about gift occasions and suggests publicly listed Etsy items. You need a Google account to sign in. By using it you accept these terms; if you do not, do not use the service.
What it is not
- It is not a shop. No purchase, payment, order or delivery ever happens here — every item links to the listing on etsy.com, where any purchase takes place under Etsy's own terms and the seller's policies.
- It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by Etsy, Inc.
- It is not a guarantee. Prices, stock and availability change constantly. A reminder reflects what the Etsy API returned when the reminder ran, which may already be out of date by the time you read it.
Your account
- You are responsible for what you put in the free-text fields. Do not enter other people's personal information beyond what you need — a first name is enough for a reminder to work.
- Do not use the service to scrape, resell or redistribute Etsy data, or to send anything to an address that is not your own.
- Accounts that abuse the service or the underlying API may be suspended without notice.
Emails
Signing in means agreeing to receive the occasion reminder emails, which are the point of the service. They can be turned off in Settings at any time, and deleting your account stops them permanently. GiftScout sends no marketing email of any kind.
Availability and liability
The service is provided as-is, with no warranty. It runs on a free hosting tier and depends on the Etsy API, so it may be unavailable, delayed, or may miss a reminder. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from use of the service — including a reminder that arrives late or not at all, a price or stock figure that turns out to be wrong, or an item that sells out before you buy it. Do not rely on it as your only reminder for anything that matters.
Changes
These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use the service after a change means accepting it. The service may be discontinued at any time, in which case accounts and their data are deleted.
