GiftScout is a hosted service with signed-in accounts. This page says exactly what is stored about you, why, and how to get rid of it.

What is collected

• Your email address, obtained through Google Sign-In. It is the account identifier and the address reminders are sent to. GiftScout requests the email scope only — no profile, no contacts, no Google Drive, nothing else.
• The people you add: the name you type, the occasion, the date, the budget and the interests. These are free-text fields you control. GiftScout does not need them to be real names and does not check them against anything.
• The listings you save: the Etsy listing id, title, link, image URL, currency, the current price and the current stock count.

What is not collected

• No password — sign-in is delegated to Google.
• No payment details. GiftScout never handles a purchase; buying happens on etsy.com.
• No advertising or analytics trackers, and no third-party scripts of any kind.
• Nothing about any Etsy account. GiftScout uses only public Etsy data and never asks anyone to connect their Etsy account.

Listing data and retention

For each listing you save, GiftScout keeps only its current stock count and the one before it — just enough to tell "has just sold out" apart from "sold out a while ago" — and never a longer price or stock history. Search results are not written down at all: a search runs, the results are shown or quoted in one email, and they are discarded.

Cookies

One cookie, named s. It holds your user id and a CSRF token, is signed so it cannot be edited, and is HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax. It exists so you stay signed in. There are no tracking or advertising cookies. A short-lived second cookie is used during the sign-in round trip and expires within ten minutes.

Who your data is shared with

Nobody. It is not sold, rented or passed to third parties. The service runs on Cloudflare (Workers, D1 and Email Sending) as the hosting and delivery provider; Google receives the sign-in request because you chose to sign in with Google; Etsy receives the search terms needed to answer a search. That is the entire list.

Your control

• Turn reminder emails off with the checkbox in Settings; the account stays.
• Remove a person or a saved idea at any time — it is deleted immediately, not archived.
• Delete your account from Settings. That erases your email address, everyone on your list and every saved idea in one step. There is no soft delete and nothing is kept afterwards.
